General Questions

Question:
  What is my password?

Answer:  Unless you have changed your password in the setup, your password is the word PASSWORD in capital letters.  You can change your password by accessing the [F9] setup for your program.

Mercury Inventory Program

Question:  Why are my prices not matching?

Answer:  Huggins prepares price and supersede updates each month on the 15th. In your program, click Help, then Updates. You will see a web page with news about this month's update. There are two different servers you could download these updates from. One server is in Oklahoma. One server is in North Carolina. It does not matter which server you download from. You only need to download from one of the servers. The download will take less than one minute. Be sure to run the install.exe after it has downloaded. You will need a password from Huggins to unzip the update. There is a new password every year. This password is on your invoice. We provide a sample part number that changed every month so you can confirm that you loaded the prices correctly.

Question:
Why won't my orders import into MercNET?

Answer:  When you generate a Purchase Order, a file with the Purchase Order name and extension .csv is created in your Huggins folder. On MercNET, this file can be imported into the shopping cart. Sometimes mercNET is very slow doing this. Please call Huggins so we can remote into your computer and walk you through doing this the first few times.

Accessory Inventory Program

Question:
Why didn't my price update change prices of parts in stock?

Answer Anytime you update prices for parts you stock in your Accessory Inventory Program you need to run a utility to Update Vendor Prices after Loading.   To run this utility select [F4]=Reports, [1] Re-Order Reports and [9] Update Vendor Prices after Loading.  Enter the Vendor you wish to update.  i.e. Benroc, Coast, Ellett.   Make sure you use the 6 character vendor name that comes up when you search for this vendor's parts.   Answer "N" if you have modified some of the descriptions for parts from this vendor.  Answer "Y" to get the new descriptions from the catalog.  Answer "Y" for OEM's that supersede often!

Question:   What does it mean to include secondary parts when building a purchase order?

Answer:    The Accessory Inventory Program provides for a part number at the top and 5 part numbers below.  The part number up top is for the mfg's part number or whatever you know the part as.  The 5 part numbers below are for 5 sources of supply for that part.

For example:  The common orange life jacket for adults (commonly called AK-1) is made by Sterns.  Coast sells this jacket as 111111, Benrock sells this as AK-1, Ellett sells this as 222222, and Donovan sells it as 333333.  You may choose to stock this part under the Donovan part number since they usually offer the best price and delivery time.  The Benrock, Coast and Ellett part numbers would be listed as secondary parts at the bottom.

Lets say that you currently stock 0 of this part and your MIN and MAX is set to 12.  This means you need to order 12 jackets to bring your quantity on hand up to the MAX of 12.  If you were to create a purchase order for Donovan,  12 of these jackets would show up on the order.  But if this is the only part that needs ordering from Donovan and you need a $250 order to get free freight, you may decide to not place the order today.  You might wait a few days to try to get your freight minimum up to $250.  In the mean time, you are risking lost sales on the lifejackets.  Let's say you have an order ready for Benrock but it is not quite enough to make the freight minimum.  You can simply say "Y" to include secondary parts.  This time the Benroc order would include the 12 life jackets since you have cross referenced Benrock with 333333 and these parts need ordering.

Question:
What is a turbo Access Error 100 - Disk read error?

Answer:   The program can't find the specified files needed to run.  Check the part count in the upper right hand corner.  It is probably zero.  Don't panic!  You probably haven't lost your stock information.   Press [F9] and check the Stock File Name.  It should be genstock.txt.   If it is something other than genstock.txt  you will want to change it back.

After changing it back to genstock.txt you will want to run a utility to rebuild your index files.   To run this utility select [F4]=Reports, [5] Program Utilities and Maintenance, and [1] Rebuild Index Files.  Answer "Y" to process.

Question:
What is a turbo Access Error 103 - File not open?

Answer:  The program can't access the files it needs to run.  The file may be missing or in use by another user or program.

Check the part count in the upper right hand corner.   If it zero press F9 and check the Stock File Name.  It should be genstock.txt.   If it is something other than genstock.txt  you will want to change it back.  After changing it back to genstock.txt you will want to run a utility to rebuild your index files.   To run this utility, select [F4]=Reports, [5] Program Utilities and Maintenance, and [1] Rebuild Index Files.  Answer "Y" to process.

AnswerIf you have a single user version, make sure you don't have two session of the program running at the same time.  Check the Windows task bar to make sure you only have one copy of the program running.

AnswerMicrosoft FindFast - This utility is shipped with MS Office and is designed to index certain files on your computer on a regular interval.  This utility indexes .dat files which may be in use by your Huggins program.  If MS FindFast is indexing these .dat files, you will get a 103 error when trying to access your Huggins program.  Two ways to handle this:  1.  Wait a few minutes and try the program again.  2.  Set MS FindFast to index less frequently.

Setting the index frequency of FindFast.  Access the Windows Control Panel.  Look for an icon for FindFast (binoculars with a lightning bolt).  Double click, click on index and then on Update Interval.  Change the setting to 24 hours*.  Click OK and click OK again if it warns you that you may cancel a index in progress.   This will reset the index interval to start 24 hours from now.  Now click index and then Close and Stop.

* Consider changing this interval setting after business hours so that 24 hours from that time will again be after business hours and should never conflict with using the Accessory Program during regular business hours.

Question:
What is a turbo Access Error 207?

Answer:  This error may appear when entering an invalid part number in the Accessory Program.  If you simply restart the program and type in a valid number from a catalog then you should be okay.

Question:
What is a turbo Access Error 1004?

Answer:  Exit to your Huggins directory by using the Huggins Prompt Icon.
Type:  ERASE GENFILES.DAT     This will not erase your stock information.
Type exit to return to windows.  Start the Accessory Inventory Program again and you will see a setup screen.  Press [ENTER] for each item until you return to the Part Number to Search Screen.  We now need to rebuild your index files.  To run this utility, select [F4]=Reports, [5] Program Utilities and Maintenance, and [1] Rebuild Index Files.  Answer "Y" to process.
WARNING:  erasing genfiles.dat will erase any custom price formulas or changes to your program setup.
